About the Event
This 40 day immersion will expand your meditation practice with guidance in weekly sessions led by Siri Bahadur and the support of practitioners who will share your experience. Consistency is key with meditation and with the encouragement of community, we will make it fun and accessible to maintain a daily practice!
Together, we will focus on one mantra for 40 days. Perhaps you have not attempted 40 consecutive days of a single meditation or tried and did not complete as intended? Or maybe you have, but would enjoy engaging in another to have the experience with others? Meditating daily for 40 days will allow you to begin mastering the effects of the meditation, as well as create a life-promoting habit. It takes up to 40 days to form a new habit (or break an old one), so during our journey, you may find that you have created a habit that you won't want to miss!
The Mul Mantra will be our focus. This mantra is the crystallization of Guru Nanak’s JapJi prayer, also called the Song of the Soul. JapJi is a prayer that describes Nanak’s experience of the structure and various facets of Creation. Mul Mantra is a description of the blueprint of Divine Life as it manifests as human experience. Thus with daily repetition of the facets describing our exalted nature, we will begin realizing bit by bit the qualities of imitating the Source of our being; our essence as consciousness.
We will meet each Friday (see schedule below) either IN PERSON or ONLINE to discuss, meditate and consider various facets of the mantra. As we break down the components of the mantra together, we will expand our ability to hold its various qualities as guidelines for our thoughts, perceptions and behavior. In addition to your personal experience of the sacred sounds we will encourage participant interaction to share the challenges and developing qualities gained with our practice. We will also partner up to provide additional support in between sessions. You can attend the series with a friend or find new friends and discover an inclusive, vibrant and supportive community of devoted yogi(in)is.
As our meditative journey progresses, we will gradually build our practice together to investigate how this experience unfolds for us individually and as a collective. For your personal practice, it is not necessary to increase the duration, but you will have the opportunity to experience the longer meditations as we progress with our weekly meetings to see how we may notice these benefits of extended practice:
11 minutes: Changes glandular system and nerves.
22 minutes: Balances and coordinates the three minds.
31 minutes: Affects all the cells and rhythms of the body and all layers of the mind’s projection.
In this course you will:
- Experience techniques for a successful 40 Day Meditative Practice
- Develop a deeper understanding of the Mul Mantra and its benefits
- Learn how to maintain an impactful daily sadhana
- Integrate between sessions with like-minded peers
- Participate in advanced group meditations and discussions
